Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto will revolutionize the future of brain and mental health care with the construction of the Garry Hurvitz Brain Sciences Centre. This state-of-the-art facility will redefine how care is delivered to patients in this first-of-its-kind centre in Canada and will bring together, under one roof, interdisciplinary teams from across the brain sciences field.

The new building will occupy 115,000 sf of new construction along with renovations to 5,000 sf of existing space. Construction will deliver a four storey facility inclusive of one storey below grade. The centre will be surrounded on three sides by existing buildings E and F Wings. Construction will also include the structural capacity to facilitate future building growth of an additional 4 storeys The basement level will be all new mechanical and electrical space. When completed, the centre will have a secure main floor outdoor space for psychiatric in-patients, an exercise facility for large-scale research projects on the connection between fitness and brain health and a roof top garden. In addition, the centre will have inpatient units for adults and youth that will offer advanced clinical facilities that include home-like single patient suites, a gym, a classroom and an outdoor courtyard.
