Job Overview: Maystar General Contractors Inc. is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our Vaughan based team as a Construction Estimator. This is an opportunity to join a company with over 25 years of construction experience. Reporting to the Chief Estimator you will be responsible for all aspects of tendering a project. Travel throughout the GTA area may be required.
Duties:
- Preparing detailed estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, and equipment costs, using contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings, and technical specifications
- Providing guidance on tendering procedures, reviewing and analyzing submitted tenders, recommending award selections, and participating in contract negotiations
- Visiting pretender site meetings and site investigations
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining tendering processes, as well as cost tracking, monitoring, and reporting systems
- Soliciting and evaluating subtrade quotations during tendering
- Producing regular cost reports, expenditure statements, and financial forecasts throughout the lifecycle of each project
- Creating and maintaining an up-to-date database of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors
- Submittal of bonding and insurance requirements
- Coordinating and communicating with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors, and preparing economic feasibility assessments for proposed changes and cost adjustments
- Assessing and evaluating risks of each tendered project
- Overseeing and coordinating construction projects while developing and maintaining construction progress schedules
- Estimators may focus on cost estimating for specific disciplines such as structural, electrical, or mechanical construction
Requirements:
- At least a three-year college diploma in civil engineering, construction engineering, or a related field is required
- A minimum of one year of construction estimating experience is required
- Ability to develop preliminary construction scheduled using MS Project
- Maintains a professional attitude
- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
- Highly organized and great attention to detail
- Solid computer skills in particular MS Excel
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a self-directed manner
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to work flexible hours as required

Maystar General Contractors Inc. is seeking a qualified, motivated, and safety‑driven individual to join our team as a Safety Coordinator. With over 30 years of construction experience, Maystar offers the opportunity to contribute to high‑profile projects across the Extended Greater Toronto Area while supporting a strong culture of safety excellence.
As a key member of our team, the Safety Coordinator will play an essential role in implementing and supporting Maystar’s Health, Safety, and Environmental Management System across large ICI construction projects. About the Role
- The role is site-based working on ICI construction projects in the Extended Greater Toronto Area.
- Reporting to the HSE Manager and working in conjunction with Site Superintendents.
- Responsible for conducting orientations with construction personnel on-site.
- Ability to monitor and maintain required safety documentation being submitted by our subcontractors.
- Completing daily safety inspections to ensure compliance with all safety legislation, as well as Maystar’s policies and procedures.
- Facilitate safety committee meetings as required.
- Conduct weekly toolbox talks.
- Participate in daily hazard assessment process as required.
- Develop practical and effective methods to promote health and safety and safe working practices.
- Develop safe work practices and site-specific safe work procedures.
- Perform in-house training with employees about health and safety issues and risks.
- Conduct incident investigations and provide reports with preventative and corrective actions as required.
- Accompany Ministry of Labour, Skills and Training Development inspectors to ensure Maystar and our subcontractors are in compliance with safety legislation, as required.
Skills and Experience
- Completed post-secondary diploma / degree or relevant experience.
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in construction health and safety in Ontario.
- NCSO Certification is preferred; however, candidates without this certification should be prepared to obtain it within 8 months.
- Understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for Construction Projects.
- Working knowledge with Accredited Management Systems and Participation in Audits is highly preferred (COR, ISO 45001)
- Fully competent with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and PDF programs.
- Ability to use computers and related safety software efficiently.
- Excellent time management skills with strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a self-directed manner as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
Compensation
- $70,000 to $90,000 per year depending on experience.
