Job Description
Maystar General Contractors Inc. is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our Vaughan based team as a Safety Coordinator. This is an opportunity to join a company with over 30 years of construction experience. As a key member of the Maystar team, you will be responsible for supporting Maystar’s Health, Safety and Environmental Management System on a large construction project in Toronto.
About the Role
- Working on several ICI projects in the Greater Toronto Area.
- Report to the health and safety manager and work in conjunction with site superintendents.
- Responsible for conducting orientations with construction personnel on-site.
- Ability to monitor and maintain required safety documentation being submitted by our subcontractors.
- Conduct daily safety inspections to ensure compliance with all safety legislation, as well as Maystar’s policies and procedures.
- Facilitate safety committee meetings as required.
- Conduct weekly toolbox talks.
- Participate in daily hazard assessment process as required.
- Develop practical and effective methods to promote health and safety and safe working practices.
- Perform in-house training with employees about health and safety issues and risks.
- Conduct incident investigations and provide reports with preventative and corrective actions as required.
- Accompany Ministry of Labour, Skills and Training Development inspectors to ensure Maystar and our subcontractors are in compliance with safety legislation, as required.
Skills and Experience
- Completed post-secondary diploma/degree or relevant experience.
- 2+ years experience in construction health and safety strongly preferred.
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certification is preferred.
- Experience in COR and/or ISO 45001 standards is preferred.
- Understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for Construction Projects.
- Fully competent with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and PDF programs.
- Ability to use computers and related safety software efficiently.
- Excellent time management skills with strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a self-directed manner as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
Job Description

This is an opportunity to join a company with over 30 years of construction experience. Reporting to the Chief Estimator you will be responsible for all aspects of tendering a project. Travel throughout the GTA area may be required.
About the Role
• Visit pretender site meetings and site investigations
• Perform quantity / material take-offs
• Checking estimates for accuracy and errors
• Solicit subtrade pricing
• Budgeting and cost control
• Evaluating subtrade quotations during tendering
• Finalization of tender forms for submittal
• Analysis and summarizing successful and unsuccessful tenders
• Submittal of bonding and insurance requirements
• Communicate with Owners and Consultants
• Assess and evaluate risks of each tendered project
• Update and Coordinate Request for Tender and Quotation documents with subtrades
• Ability to develop preliminary construction scheduled using MS Project
Skills and Experience
• 8 to 10 years experience working as a Project Estimator
• Post-secondary education in a construction related program
• Professional attitude
• Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
• Highly organized
• Great attention to detail
• Solid computer skills in particular MS Excel
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a self-directed manner

Job Description
Maystar General Contractors Inc. is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our Vaughan based team as a Construction Site Superintendent. This is an opportunity to join a company with over 30 years of construction experience. As a key member of the Maystar team, you will be committed to maintaining a healthy and safe work environment for all our team members through hands-on, field-based collaboration with management and workers. You will be responsible for the supervision of all construction activities that take place on the site ensuring a high standard of safety workmanship and efficiency. Travel throughout the GTA area will be required.
About the Role:
- Work closely with the General Site Superintendent, Project Manager, Consultants, Inspectors and Regulatory Agencies to execute project plans.
- Supervise and direct all site staff and subcontractors assigned to the project.
- Ensure efficient use of labour, machinery and materials.
- Review, organize, manage and maintain all pertinent site documents.
- Advise senior management of potential problems, work interferences or schedule concerns while assisting in circumventing and / or resolving such problems, interferences or concerns.
- Maintain detailed project Daily Reports.
- Ensure compliance with Maystar’s Health and Safety requirements and all record keeping requirements in maintaining a safe workplace.
- Ensure compliance with all the COR requirements needed for maintaining COR Certification.
- Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of safe job procedures, safe work practices, training programs, risk assessments, project safety plans and emergency preparedness plans.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 10+ years’ experience working as a construction site superintendent.
- Post-secondary education in a construction related program.
- Extensive ICI related experience.
- Gold Seal Certified.
- TTC experience an asset.
- Experience with the IHSA COR certification program.
- Professional attitude.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Great attention to detail.
- Solid computer skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a self-directed manner.
- Strong time management skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours as the project schedule demands.
