Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto will the first household to have a 7-Tesla (7T) MRI, that will help understand better issues such as spinal cord structure and function, potentially developing new treatments for diseases such as multiple sclerosis, dementia, stroke, and Parkinson’s disease. The 7T MRI produces images in unprecedented detail, allowing researchers to see areas of the nervous system never seen before with MRI. This new building of 1854 square feet will contain the new 7T MRI and the renovations inside the existing E-wing building will provide the easy accessibility to this facility. Once completed, Sunnybrook will open door to new researchers in various diseases.
