#WeAnswerTheCall – in recognition of all nurses and National Nursing Week.
National Nursing Week 2021 took place from May 10 – 16th and is an annual celebration to recognize the tireless efforts that nurses across Canada put in to their jobs and the roles they play in a patient’s health-care journey. The pandemic that we are facing across the globe has put into perspective the courage and commitment that nurses work under every day and showed us what an important role nurses play in our communities.
This year, the theme of nurses week was #WeAnswerTheCall which truly exemplifies the role of nurses in our health-care system and within our community. In 1971, the International Council of Nurses designated May 12th, the birthday of nursing pioneer Florence Nightingale, as International Nurses Day, which has since been extended to being recognized as National Nursing Week.
In support of the nursing profession, this year Maystar provided meals for the emergency department staff at the Toronto East Health Network’s Michael Garron Hospital. With a number of construction projects being successfully completed before and continue during the pandemic, both Maystar and the hospital staff worked together to ensure everything ran smoothly, safely and according to plan. This was a little token of thanks from us to show our support to the nursing staff, and staff in general at the Michael Garron Hospital for all that they do in making a difference to the lives of each and every person and patient that walks through the doors.
