You will be responsible for the supervision of all construction activities that take place on the site ensuring a high standard of safety workmanship and efficiency. About the Role:

  • Work closely with the General Site Superintendent, Project Manager, Consultants, Inspectors and Regulatory Agencies to execute project plans.
  • Supervise and direct all site staff and subcontractors assigned to the project.  
  • Ensure efficient use of labour, machinery and materials.
  • Review, organize, manage and maintain all pertinent site documents.
  • Advise senior management of potential problems, work interferences or schedule concerns while assisting in circumventing and / or resolving such problems, interferences or concerns.
  • Maintain detailed project Daily Reports.
  • Ensure compliance with Maystar’s Health and Safety requirements and all record keeping requirements in maintaining a safe workplace.
  • Ensure compliance with all the COR requirements needed for maintaining COR Certification.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of safe job procedures, safe work practices, training programs, risk assessments, project safety plans and emergency preparedness plans.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 10+ years’ experience working as a construction site superintendent.
  • Post-secondary education in a construction related program.
  • Extensive ICI related experience.
  • Gold Seal Certified.
  • TTC experience an asset.
  • Experience with the IHSA COR certification program.
  • Professional attitude.  
  • Excellent communication skills.  
  • Great attention to detail.  
  • Solid computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a self-directed manner.
  • Strong time management skills.

Job Description

Maystar General Contractors Inc. is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our Vaughan based team as a Quality Manager. This is an opportunity to join a company with over 25 years of construction experience. As a key member of the Maystar team you will report to the Maystar management team and you will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance and effective execution of Maystar’s Quality Management System including quality control and assurance activities.

About the Role:

  • Work closely with the General Site Superintendent, Site Superintendent and Project Manager to implement and maintain Maystar’s QMS on all Maystar sites.
  • Prepare quality audit plans and schedules.
  • Coordinate internal quality audits and external quality audits of key processes with relevant subcontractors.
  • Coordinates management review of Maystar’s QMS to ensure the effective operation and continuous improvement of the QMS.
  • Maintain relevant quality records in accordance with individual project requirements.
  • Implementation of Maystar’s process for control of nonconformity and corrective action related to the QMS.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum University or Community College graduate in a relevant Engineering or Architectural technology discipline.
  • Successfully completed an ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Course.
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience as a Quality Manager obtained on complex projects with a Contract value above $40 million.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in ICI construction on complex projects with a Contract value above $40 million.
  • TTC experience an asset.
  • Experience with the IHSA COR certification program.

As a key member of the Maystar team, you will be committed to ensuring that the Projects you are assigned are completed on time and within budget. Reporting to the Vice President of Construction, you will be responsible for all administrative aspects of overseeing a project. Travel throughout the GTA area will be required.

About the Role

  • Work closely with the Owner General, Consultants, Site Staff, Inspectors and Regulatory Agencies to execute the Contract Documents.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and on budget.
  • Provide direction to team members and distribute workload.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the Contract Documents.
  • Advise senior management of potential problems or schedule concerns and be proactive in resolving such problems or schedule concerns.
  • Prepare monthly applications for payment.
  • Coordinate all sub-trade work in conjunction with site staff.
  • Coordinate contract changes, site instructions, requests for information and project submittals.
  • Chair bi-weekly site meetings and prepare meeting minutes.

  • 8 to 10 years experience working as an ICI Project Manager.

Job Description

This is an opportunity to join a company with over 25 years of construction experience. As a key member of the Maystar team you will report to the Senior Planner and the Maystar management team and you will be responsible for the monthly updating of the project schedules and assist in the preparation of the associated schedule narratives. 

About the Role

  • Work closely with the Senior Planner, General Site Superintendent, Site Superintendent and Project Manager to update, and maintain the project schedules for all Maystar projects
  • Prepare monthly schedule updates on all projects
  • Periodically visit the project sites to review the progress in relation to the schedule
  • Review and incorporate scope revisions to the schedule

Job Description

Maystar General Contractors Inc. is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our Vaughan based team as a Safety Coordinator. This is an opportunity to join a company with over 25 years of construction experience. As a key member of the Maystar team, you will be responsible for supporting Maystar’s Health, Safety and Environmental Management System on a large construction project in Toronto. 

About the Role

  • Working on a large construction project in Toronto’s Leaside neighbourhood. 
  • Reporting to the Safety Officer and working in conjunction with the Site Superintendent. 
  • Responsible for conducting orientations with construction personnel on-site.
  • Ability to monitor and maintain required safety documentation being submitted by our subcontractors. 
  • Completing daily safety inspections to ensure compliance with all safety legislation, as well as Maystar’s policies and procedures. 
  • Preparing a documented safety inspection on a weekly basis.
  • Facilitate safety committee meetings as required. 
  • Conduct weekly toolbox talks.
  • Participate in daily hazard assessment process as required.
  • Develop practical and effective methods to promote health and safety and safe working practices.
  • Perform in-house training with employees about health and safety issues and risks.
  • Conduct incident investigations and provide reports with preventative and corrective actions as required. 
  • Accompany Ministry of Labour, Skills and Training Development inspectors to ensure Maystar and our subcontractors are in compliance with safety legislation, as required. 

Skills and Experience

  • Completed post-secondary diploma / degree or relevant experience. 
  • Experience in construction health and safety strongly preferred. 
  • Understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for Construction Projects. 
  • Fully competent with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and PDF programs. 
  • Ability to use computers and related safety software efficiently.
  • Excellent time management skills with strong attention to detail.

As a key member of the Maystar team, you will be responsible for supporting the Project Manager(s) in all aspects of document management and presentation. About the Role

  • Work closely with the Project Manager to ensure proper document management.
  • Log in and distribute shop drawings and other related submittals.
  • Create and coordinate documents such as Purchase Orders, Subcontracts, RFIs.
  • Manage and file documents for projects both digitally and hard copy.
  • Duties include filing, document tracking, data entry, etc.

 

Skills and Experience

  • 3 to 5 years experience in the construction industry.
  • Experience with Procore Construction Software an asset.

Travel throughout the GTA area may be required.

• Visit pretender site meetings and site investigations
• Perform quantity / material take-offs
• Checking estimates for accuracy and errors
• Solicit subtrade pricing
• Budgeting and cost control
• Evaluating subtrade quotations during tendering
• Finalization of tender forms for submittal
• Analysis and summarizing successful and unsuccessful tenders
• Submittal of bonding and insurance requirements
• Communicate with Owners and Consultants
• Assess and evaluate risks of each tendered project
• Update and Coordinate Request for Tender and Quotation documents with subtrades
• Ability to develop preliminary construction scheduled using MS Project

This is an opportunity to join a company with over 25 years of construction experience. As a key member of the Maystar team, you will be responsible for document management and assisting in the preparation of proposals to obtain future work for the company.

 

About the Role

  • Assist in the preparation of Pre-qualification submissions for potential projects.
  • Assist in coordinating requests to sub-contactors related to tender closings.
  • Maintain Maystar’s existing sub-contractor data base.
  • Manage and file documents for proposals both digitally and hard copy.
  • Duties include writing draft narratives in response to proposal requirements, assisting with document management, data entry, etc.

 

Skills and Experience

  • 7-10 years in a related role preferably in the construction industry.
  • Ability to write proposals in concise, clear, and well-organized manner which are free from grammatical errors and spelling mistakes.
  • Ability to read and comprehend Requests for Proposals / Requests for Pre-Qualifications prepared by outside organizations.
  • Proficiency in computer programs such as MS Office Suites and related industry software
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Highly organized to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workloads and monitor deadlines.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in documentation, filing and record keeping.
  • Flexible to adapt to changes in workload and to undertake additional responsibilities. 
  • Ability to work with others as a team.
